You can call it ghosts hotel, it seems i was the only guest in the hotel -ve 1- poor internet 2- location not bear from anything 3- unfriendly staff 4- breakfast is poor +ve 1- large rooms 2- health club 3- indoor pool but very cold
Good experience, good location, good people working there. I left my ring in the room and they have not been able to locate it.
Excellent property in every way. The rooms are very nice and all have wonderful views of Kampala. Staff are friendly. Wifi is excellent speed. But only issue is breakfast. Very limited selection. If you even ask for some butter it takes them nearly 20 minutes or even tell you that they don't have any. This is really a big let down for an excellent property. Otherwise nice location and worth the stay.
Staff is nice but service is bad
If you want to get out and about for a walkabout to see a bit of Kampala, this is probably not the place to stay and can be very inconvenient in that way. Great if you want to be hidden away in a secure quiet place where not much social activity is happening. Friendly staff was the only noteworthy thing for me. 2 days of cold showers dampened my spirit a little bit.
Food has to be improved especially ala carte menu and buffet breakfast. Varieties required
Very comfortable and ambient atmosphere. Negative is closeness to state house. Too much security issues.
This hotel is a puzzle: it's very new, luxurious, beautifully maintained, very affordable and quite empty. Overall, the service is excellent and friendly and the facilities are very good: the lobby, for example, is impressive and the gym is big and well equipped with brand new Technogym equipment. The rooms are big and have everything you'd need from coffee machines to irons. There are a few odd things, though: they never answer the phone (so don't try to call with questions or to book an airport pick up); the website is broken; the hotel often seems to run out of things like capsules for the coffee machine or many of the items on the already limited restaurant menu. The hotel also lies behind the security checks for the nearby State House (the President's Kampala residence) but this doesn't present any serious inconvenience. I stayed here while participating in a meeting at the nearby Sheraton (a pleasant 15 minute walk). The Pearl of Africa was a third of the cost, nicer and, I thought, friendlier. Their wifi was much faster too. I just can't work out why more people don't stay here. It was, apparently, supposed to be a Hilton but fell foul of some of the brand standards -- I can't imagine why as it's much nicer and better kept than most of the Hiltons I stay in.
After touring rural Uganda with an NGO for 10 days, this was an excellent way to rest and refresh ourselves before heading home. Overall, this looked like an amazing hotel if you didn't look too close. If you approach it with the grace that you're still in a developing world city, you'll be able to roll with the punches a bit more. We ordered a pizza and they said the pizza guy didn't show up that day. My wife tried to take a bath and the water came out a yellowish/brown color. We ordered coffee and it took an hour and 3 reminders. But compared to every else we stayed around the country, this place was great. The beds were comfortable, the AC worked well, the staff was professional and friendly. If you go in thinking it will be on par with European or North American hotels, you'll probably be disappointed. But it's definitely a step in the right direction for Ugandans trying to attract more tourists, and if you go in with a comparison of any other Ugandan or East African hotel, you'll be delighted by your stay here.
Amazing views and beautiful hotel, with an amazing pool. The hotel is luxurious with great rooms too. The problem is the restaurant whose food menu is very limited and has very few of those items available.
