Kimpton Da An Taipei- an IHG Hotel

Amazing Customer Service! Nice location easy access to metro and everywhere.. nice food and drinks on the 12/F Restaurant and Bar.

The best part of the hotel is the location, right in the heart of the city at Zhongxiao Fuxing. I've stayed in Taiwan many times, running the gamut from 3 star hotels to the Mandarin. In my mind this is near the top - but the small size of room and the quality of towels is not where some of the top places are. Plus, they don't have many breakfast options outside of Western style breakfast, and (like other reviewers mentioned) the bathroom/shower situation is weird. It also seems strange that there is no vent in the bathroom, which seems like it would lead to a mold situation later on. Overall, I thought it was nice but wasn't as impressed as I should've been for the price and for what is supposed to be a 5-star place.

I rarely give reviews, but this hotel was absolutely wonderful. Even before I arrived, the staff were incredibly helpful. When I asked about a spa onsite (note: Hotels.com states this property had a spa on site; it doesn’t), they said they didn’t but offered two nearby spa suggestions, booked my appointment, and even got me a 20% discount. Everyone I encountered was friendly. The amenities are all top notch and the space itself is sleek, modern, simple, and beautiful. I found a couple of hairs in the sink area but otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. I didn’t get a chance to take advantage of the complementary happy hour but it’s a great touch. Loved the Tavernist bar and the bartender and other staff members were friendly and fun to chat with for a solo traveler. I was only there for one night and wish I had stayed for another night or two. Definitely stay here.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Great decor comfortable rooms and luxurious bath towels. This makes Kimpton my kind of hotel

Pros: Design: brand new, Scandinavian modern design, sight for sore eyes especially for those into architecture, mixture of wood, matt paint, white tiles, brass/ stainless steel, leather as the elementary materials; top-notch furnishings Spacious: you can do a cartwheel in the room, open two large suitcases with still loads of space to walk around Cleanliness: spotless Sleep: large comfy bed, quiet, temperature control easy Service: very very helpful and friendly staff, free tea/ wine in the evening at the lobby Location: 5 min walk from subway station; safe neighbourhood; close to city centre Dining: you HAVE TO try their breakfast; not buffet style; order to make, the most delicious seafood porridge I have ever had; also the restaurant is very very well designed Cons: I dunno any really... Maybe the price? I think it's just a tad above average at most. With what it offers, the price is actually reasonable. Location maybe, not the closest district to the noisiest and most touristy places, wait is that a pro? Just trust me and give it a try. Wont' regret it.
