Brilliant location we have stayed there many times since 2016 always 2nd January and we always enjoy our stay. However the check in could be a little easier not being familiar with the I Pad. The hotel looks in need of freshening up but is comfortable and clean The restaurant manager at breakfast was particularly helpful on the day of our departure

Lovely, welcoming staff at hotel situated right in the heart of the Grassmarket area of Edinburgh. Facilities were excellent and so was the service. Room had everything you needed but had a few tired spots to the decor which needed tending to (did not impact stay and wasn’t worthy of complaining about). Would stay again.

Very well located and comfortable hotel with perfect views of Edinburgh Castle from the hotel restaurant and many rooms. Staff was attentive, friendly and accommodating. They definitely went out of their way to ensure it was an enjoyable stay. Room was pretty spacious and beds were comfortable. Only note is the bedding seemed a bit dated and could use some refreshing (stains and piling on several of the decorative pillows and piling on the comforters), but otherwise a great stay and would stay again! Restaurant also had a great and very affordable food spread every morning.

They gave us an extra hour complimentary before arrival. My daughter took ill during the night & they extended our room until 2pm as our bus home for a 5 hour journey wasn't until 3.10pm. This let her sleep as she was awake most of the night. Outstanding service. Thank you so much.

Positives - nothing wrong with rooms except maybe a bit warm, comfy beds, clean, staff all helpful Negatives - if you have any mobility issues accessing the balconies is impossible, there is a masive step up to get onto them. Highly recommend as long as you're physically able because the views are great. They could be more clued up on gluten free, I asked about my breakfast options, was told stuff could be made with gluten free bread or the hot breakfast could be made with some stuff removed. When I asked what would be removed I was handed the allergen folder which then simply confirmed that the Scottish breakfast contained gluten but did not list which items so didnt answer my question. Gave up at that point, ordered eggs florantine which came without spinach so could do better on that front.

Great Hotel in a great location!
We were visiting Edinburgh for a couple days on a longer trip and of the three hotels we stayed in this hotel was the best experience. Friendly staff and nice comfortable rooms. We arrived early in the city and were able to get our room at 10:00 AM. I have stayed in hotels that have a policy that the earliest they can check in is noon, even if there is a room available. I was fully prepared to check my luggage but they gave us our room right away. There was a cute duck awaiting us upon our arrival and I love that different Apex hotels have different ducks! I want to stay at different locations now just to collect them all!

Lovely hotel in a perfect location.
This hotel is in a perfect location within easy walking distance of all of the main sights and the Christmas market in Princes Street. The hotel was very busy given the time of year, but not uncomfortable.
