The "family room" is located in a separate old, decrepit building next to the hostel (don't be fooled - this is a hostel, NOT a "guest house" as it is advertised). The kitchen ceiling leaked terribly, so you have to wear plastic slippers. There were cockroaches, piles of dirt and eggshells in the corners, and an old piece of ripped tinfoil for a backsplash. The bathroom shower is awkwardly located over the top of a non-functional washing machine and the dirty bathroom sink water drained directly onto our feet rather than down a pipe. In addition to these inconveniences, the electricity is a major fire hazard (open wires wrapped in plastic) and we blew the fuse to the entire apartment well over 8 times. First it was because we dared to plug the hot water kettle into the outlet in the kitchen ("You can't use the outlets in the kitchen!!!!"). Then we tried to run the two wall AC units ("You can't run two!!!! Only one!!!!!"). Then when the electricity shut off at midnight, we were told in the that we couldn't run either AC ("Don't use bed covers and you'll stay cool!"). But worst of all was the attitude of the owner. When we asked if we could change rooms, she said yes, but it would cost us more (for a smaller room?!?!?). At check out when we expressed that we did not get what we paid for (a simple, clean room with AC) and requested a 50% refund, all of a sudden she didn't understand English and turned her back. Awful place. Awful owner. Don't waste your money.
