About the location: This hotel is across the street from the Hospital de Sant Pau, which is a sight by itself. However, the hotel is only at walking distance from the Sagrada Familia and no other sights. There is absolutely nothing to do in the neighbourhood. That's not a big problem: the nearest metro station is Guinardó, at about three minutes walking distance; you can quickly get to all of the attractions from there. The hotel itself is situated at a not-too-quiet crossroads that gets some traffic from abulances during the day, but it's quiet enough at night with the double glazing and with the ambulances not turning their sirens on. The crossroads is not busy compared to your average Eixample road.
About the hotel: the hotel has decently equipped, not-too-large rooms. Safes in the room, plus a decently priced (!) mini-bar. There's a free internet terminal in the lobby. Our non-smoking room did have some residual smoke smell, but it was well-cleaned otherwise. Friendly personnel, a decent and affordable breakfast. All in all, except for the residual smoke smell, they did a lot of things right, and they didn't do anything very wrong, which is more than you can expect at this price point, I think. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again next time I'm in Barcelona.
