First, the good: Staff great, location great w/proximity to Atocha, walkable to main areas. Hence 3 stars.
However, the room was not what I expected at $225ish. Be aware, a basic room as I booked is barely large enough for 1 person- may not be a full room but a space worked around a building structure (i.e. not rectangle) w/ about a foot to get around the bed. Room/bathroom are very dim. The small window only looked into a small space btwn buildings-no sense of time of day; didn't add light. Then there's the noise: plumbing/toilet use in other rooms, AC fan making a constant noise, door slammings in hallway,
Only highway motel amenities. No lotion, hair conditioner, Instant coffee powder, no bottled water. No coffee in lobby either.
Also, this hotel does "test charges" to your credit card rather than temporary authorizations! I wasl 2x charged for $225ish then credited back a slightly lesser amount, in addition to charging for my stay. Staff said hotel fully booked, so had to do that (??) and I must bear the exchange risk (a couple of bucks, but how is this OK?).
I'd probably simply accept all of the above at $100-$150/night. But this hotel is very overpriced.
