Highlights of Tivoli Friheden
One of the most important highlights at Tivoli Friheden is the long list of outdoor concerts held each summer. The event goes under the name Cool Friday (Fed Fredag), and hosts around 20 different artists on the big outdoor stage over the course of the (hopefully) warm summer months. However, magical experiences are not limited to the summer half year – during Halloween, horror is the main theme at Tivoli Friheden, while visitors in December can enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, with beautiful lights and extravagant decorations.
Naturally, you will also find lots of fun rides at Tivoli Friheden. For example, try Cobra, the largest roller coaster in the park. Feel the excitement as the wind blows through your hair when you are shot along the 1,300-foot track. If this is not enough for you, you can experience a 100-foot free fall from Sky Tower. Should you be looking for something more relaxing, you can always take a few spins on Denmark's tallest Ferris wheel.

History of Tivoli Friheden
Tivoli Friheden's name dates all the way back to the 1880s, when the northern-most part of the Marselisborg Forests was called 'friheden'. The name presumably came about because many of the city residents journeyed out to the forest on Sundays to experience a sense of freedom ('frihed'), far from the cramped city. Due to the numerous visitors to the forest, it was decided in 1904 to construct a pavilion called 'Friheden' as well as a restaurant called 'Terrassen'. In 1909, concerts started to be held at the bandstand, which attracted even more visitors.
After the first World War, Restaurant Terrassen became the gathering place for many of Aarhus' popular festivals. In connection with this, they started adding rides, like merry-go-rounds, swings, shooting galleries, mini golf and pedalos in the lake. On 2 May 1958, the park opened its doors to a successful opening celebration with over 400,000 guests.

Good to know about Tivoli Friheden
With so many activities to participate in, you can easily set aside most of the day for exploring all the corners of the park. Luckily, Tivoli Friheden offers a concept called 'Friheden All Inclusive', which includes the entrance fee, an all-day-ride pass and buffet. In addition, Friheden All Inclusive gives you access to two vouchers, e.g. one for a soft-serve ice cream, candyfloss or coffee and one for the games and stands. If you are a tourist in Aarhus and purchased an AarhusCARD, you will gain free entrance to the park. However, you need to pay for your own all-day-ride pass if you want to go on the rides.
Tivoli Friheden in Aarhus is located on the edge of the Marselisborg Forests, at walking distance from the centre. If you would rather save your legs for wandering around the park, you can take several buses from Aarhus Central Station.
