La Bresse – certified Famille Plus (Family Plus) – is a haven for novice skiers of all ages. With its 37 ski slopes laid out over 220 hectares, it forms the largest skiable area in the north-east of France and has no reason to envy its Alpine cousins.
With green, blue, red and even a black slope, as well as a slalom stadium, runs fitted out for night-time skiing and a large Nordic area, La Bresse really does have something for everyone. Its 3 areas (La Bresse-Hohneck, La Bresse-Lispach and La Bresse-Brabant) offer a delightful setting made up of passes, mountain ridges and lakes to captivate young and old alike.

The pretty Alsatian ski resort of Ventron (or Ermitage Frere Joseph) has more than one feature to charm both amateur and seasoned skiers. Try snowshoeing against a backdrop of green, roar with laughter on the toboggan and put your technique to the test on the Bussang and Futaie slopes (experience required).
When you've finished in the snow, delve into the authentic atmosphere of the mountain village, which is well-suited for families. This haven of peace also lets you enjoy the pleasures of hiking and cultural visits to the chapel and the hermit's dwelling, to which the station owes its name.

Le Grand Valtin

Le Grand Valtin, contrary to what its name might suggest, it's actually the smallest ski station in Europe. Although it may be small, its activities are interesting and varied, with its green slope, 3 blue slopes and red slope as well as 15 km dedicated to cross-country skiing and a space reserved for sledging.
This pleasant family ski station may draw you in with its tranquillity and prices that couldn't be any lower, but it's the quality of the welcome, the authenticity of the inns and the charm of the village and chalets that will make you stay and keep you coming back. Note that this ski station is only open on Wednesday afternoons, weekends and school holidays.

Lac Blanc, by the town of Kaysersberg, is a little gem for everyone, from complete beginners to the most seasoned skier. Its black slope and technical run stand alongside 5 green, 1 blue and 6 red slopes. If you're a night owl, you can even practise slalom under the stars 4 nights a week.
Cross-country skiing is very good at Lac Blanc, and fans of monoskiing, snowshoeing and snowboarding can also test their endurance on the ridges of the Ballons des Vosges Nature Park. As dynamic as it is friendly, this Vosges resort offers a complete experience with a taste of local produce in excellent restaurants as a bonus.

Schnepfenried

Schnepfenried will almost certainly make a memorable skiing holiday, assuming you can remember how to say the name. This family ski station is one of the largest in the Vosges Mountains and is keen to please skiers of all ages and levels. A good layer of snow is guaranteed over its 16 slopes, of which 4 are green, 3 are blue, 4 are red and 5 are black. It even caters for night time skiers.
Perfect your moves on the snow park and boardercross, or visit the free Nordic and sledging areas. The tarte flambee with a bread dough base covered with cheese and bacon pieces that you can taste at the bottom of the mountain really is the icing on the cake.

Larcenaire is a small but very pleasant resort that's great for young and new skiers. This safe, friendly ski station only has 8 slopes, but it'll win over enthusiasts with its ski jump and slalom area while beginners like the snowboarder-free green and blue slopes.
Protected from the wind, it tends to be sunny and is great for family stays, thanks in part to its children's area with a ski tow that's sure to amuse the little ones. This idyllic setting is rounded off by the free sledging area and the restaurant terrace where you can tuck into chips after a long day on the slopes.
