Staff are brilliant, without exception.
Hotel is fine, public areas are fresher than the rooms, but all spotlessly clean and fresh.
Would be great if it had Aircon. It doesn’t, our room, facing O’Connell Street was stifling and the fan provided only moved hot air around.
So, we were faced with either stifling heat, or allowing some air in (it’s facing the sun during the day, we had our curtains closed during the day). The races were on in Limerick and the street partying went on until after 4am. Terrible nights sleep, wasn’t great the first night due to the heat, but the noise from outside the second night was unbearable. This is a real pity, because the bed was exceptionally comfortable. I don’t see an easy fix for this heat issue, because retrofitted Aircon will be clumsy and expensive. Wish we had paid a bit more and gone to the Savoy. As a vegan, very restricted choice in the hotel and nearby restaurants. Aura, a Thai, Indian fusion was the best we found. Attention to detail a bit lacking, wall mounted soaps etc are eco friendly, but the pumps didn’t work on more than half of them. Our bedroom door slammed loudly, we didn’t always remember to guide it, even the last couple of inches, it slammed loudly and it was cringe worthy. The lifts need your passkey to go to reception, which seemed like overkill, as it’s a good security measure to access other floors, that’s the first system we found where you need your card to go down to reception. Maybe fine in winter.
