Sizeable hotel in lovely grounds. Clean, large room. One window glass needed replacing as the double glazing no longer was clear (condensation damage internal to the glass) - this inhibited the view. Considering this isa 4 star hotel, I thought the lack of attention to detail was poor. Several examples: firstly, in the room,only one type of teabag, instant coffee and I’d have expected slippers and robes. Secondly we ate dinner there twice and on neither occasion where we asked if we wanted a dessert or coffee, though we noticed this was offered to some other customers. Finally, upon arrival at check-in, the receptionist managed not to look at my partner at all. She was completely unacknowledged as the receptionist addressed me only and, though my partner and I discussed what time we should check in for breakfast in front of her, she continued to stare intently at me only, ignoring there were two of us. This felt very rude and exclusionary, as well as unwelcoming.
