The location of this hotel is nice and initially we had a good impression about the staff and the general status of the hotel. We've paid 40€ on top of the 290€ already paid to upgrade to a room with a terras and sea view. When we returned to our room after dinner, there was an awful gutter smell in the elevator. When entering the room, we smelled the same odor. The receptionist admitted that there was a problem but they had to wait until the next day for someone to investigate it. "They would consider this inconvenience at the check-out in the morning", she said. The AC might have been the cause, so we were advised to switch it off. She came to our room and spayed some kind of perfume, but this did not help. During the night, the problem got worse and without AC, it got very hot in the room. Finally, we've decided to sleep with the window widely open. Until we were woken by the sound of the machines used by the maintenance personnel of the city.
At the check-out, we've mentioned the inconvenience and asked if they foresee some kind of compensation. We've paid 330€ + bar and restaurant expenses after all. She said she was not allowed by the hotel manager to give any compensations. And that was it.
Now, any hotel can have a problem with the draining or AC. The issue is not that it happened but how they treat their valued customers. A 4-star hotel is more than just a nice looking building on a good location...
