8/10 – Zeer goed

Decent hotel, fairly no-frills
The hotel is clean with friendly helpful staff, and is well located in the centre of town a short walk from everything. There's a lovely courtyard on site. However, the rooms themselves are a little disappointing. It seems all double rooms have no external windows, which keeps them nice and cool but they can feel a bit musty/cave-like and have no natural light. They also all appear to be in the central corridor, and ours was directly opposite the reception desk. We could hear every conversation at reception, and the live sport playing in the restaurant. If we weren't so tired and jet lagged this could have been a real issue. On our final night I was woken up by a loud guest speaking to reception late at night. The room was well cleaned and had an eco filter fresh water supply which was welcome. The bathroom was small and the curtain didn't stop water getting on the floor, as the shower head was more like a tap than a spray so splashed up a lot when it hit the ground. Hot water was available in the mornings but not reliably in afternoon or evening. No wardrobe, just a rail with three hangers. Honestly it wasn't bad but just didn't feel worth the price.
For our final night in Antigua we stayed in Hotel Soleil, a large 4* spa hotel just outside the centre, a 10 min walk from town. It costs ~10% more per night than Naif but the rooms, amenities and comfort are more than 2x better.
