My husband and I live in Costa Rica and took a little vacation in Tambor to celebrate my birthday. It was a three-hour drive from Playas del Coco on very good roads. It was very easy to follow the signs to the hotel, which is a five-minute drive from the main road on narrow dirt roads.
We were disappointed when we arrived to find that there was a steep pathway from the parking area to the reception and rooms. However, the owner met us and helped carry our bags to the room.
The hotel consists of a main lodge/reception area where they serve breakfast and nine cabins tucking into the jungle. There are two swimming pools that looked very nice, but we didn't get a chance to enjoy them.
Our cabin/room was large with a king-sized bed, walk-in-closet, and a screened in porch. The bathroom was very nice with one of the largest and best showers that I've ever seen. There was great water pressure, plenty of hot water, and big cozy towels.
We stayed three nights. At first, we thought the 10-minute drive into Tambor was too far from the action, but it didn't seem so far after all, and we enjoyed the peace and quiet. The walkway didn't seem quite so steep by the time we checked out. Although, I wouldn't want to try it in the rainy season.
Highly recommended
