Standards have dropped sharply...
While the valet, check-in, and room were all positive...the service at both the hotel restaurant(s) was terrible.
For the dinner/bar - the hotel had a single person on staff to manage a room of around 70 people. After waiting at a table for 20 minutes without anyone even checking in on us, my party simply left.
The next morning, we grabbed breakfast at the hotel brunch, normally a great meal. Not only did the server never deliver half the items we asked for, what food was ordered arrived cold and missing items. Rather than preparing fresh food, the server simply cherry picked items from the buffet. He did that after we had waited for over 15 minutes. What we got was lukewarm and missing several items listed on the menu.
However, he never checked in on us. Nor did any of the other staff. Given the $60 check for two, it was very underwhelming. When I complained at the front desk, the staff made zero offers to address the issue and on check out 30 minutes later, didn't even bother to ask me about our stay.
Sofitel was a great option for years...but with the Kimpton across the street...it's the last time I will visit the hotel.
