Park at Your Own Very Real Risk
The first night of our two-night stay, someone broke out the rear passenger window of our truck and put multiple cracks in the front passenger window while it was parked in the hotel parking lot. The thieves stole insignificant items from the vehicle. Outside temperatures were freezing and below, and we were hours from home. Since it was Sunday, we were unable to have the windows replaced. We felt uncomfortable parking our unsecured vehicle in the parking lot overnight again, especially since the hotel has no surveillance cameras covering their parking lot. So, facing a cold and noisy trip home, we asked if the hotel would cancel the second night of our stay. We were lead to believe they would, so we left shortly after normal checkout time. To date, the hotel has not refunded us for the second night. They did go ahead and charge us for a bag of chips and some beef jerky we picked up from their shop. Additionally, another guest’s car disappeared completely from the parking lot that same night. We don’t know the circumstances around that, but we got the feeling this is not completely unusual.
