When I made this reservation through Expedia it was unclear whether I was getting a room with two queen beds or one king bed. I followed up with a call to the hotel and specified that I would need a room with 2 Queens, and received that assurance.
We checked in to the hotel about 11:00-11:30 the night of September 19th. The two women at the desk were the most stone-faced individuals I have ever encountered at the front desk of any lodging, and were as minimally responsive to questions as they could possibly manage.
We were dourly informed that there would be a $50 surcharge added to my credit card in case of damage to the room by pets, which would supposedly be refunded once the room had been inspected after our departure. (We didn't have any pets.)
I was then asked if we were going to be using the hotel's parking lot. When I responded in the affirmative, she informed me that we would be charged something in excess of $10 per day for that privilege. When I asked where else we COULD park, she simply shrugged without even looking at me.
When we got to our room, sure enough, it had one king-size bed rather than 2 queens. We trudged back downstairs with our luggage to request the room that I was assured would be reserved for us. The woman sighed with an irritated look on her face, and went to work clacking on her computer keyboard for about 5 minutes, never saying a word to me. At the end of the process she silently pushed a new keycard across the countertop.
