Lovely hotel in Downtown, bar reception staff
We stayed for 5 nights recently at the Magnolia Hotel Houston
Upon arrival, the receptionist at the desk could not find my booking with Hotels.com in their system - fortunately I had brought a printed copy of my reservation and previously corresponded with her prior to arrival - in the end she honoured my booking and price quoted via Hotels.com.
We were given a room/ suite on the 18th floor with a nice view and spacious lviing & bedroom space. It was clean and room was serviced daily.
Hotel is very central and close to all major Downtown sights and metro station to museum district. Rooftop pool and views from there were breathtaking.
Breakfast was included and the restaurant staff (especially Jackie) were amazing.
On the day of check out, we were locked out of our room after coming back to collect our bags despite specifically asking for late check out. We asked the male receptionist who was there to book us a taxi which didn't arive after 30 mins and after rechecking with him - turns out the taxi was not called in the 1st place. Fortunately as we insisted on rechecking a second call was made and we got to the airport in time to board our return flight to the UK.
Overall this is a good hotel though slightly dated but reception staff need to be better trained and more vigilant - this aspect ruined slightly an otherwise lovely stay - 8 out 10 is a fair grading (or 7.5 to be more exact)
