Stayed for 3 nights at the Chaplain Rive Gauche hotel and it was nice comfortable little hotel. The staff speaks excellent english and they gave us a warm welcome. We had room nr 10 which is on the first floor and lies in the back of the hotel with windows that can be opened where you will find a small courtyard of around 6 square mtr. The room (basic room with queen bed) was small, nicely decorated as was the bathroom with the usual amenities. Modern fixtures made it feel like home. Though you will make a mess if you are a shower person like us, there is a small unmovable glass wall that doesnt keep much water from spraying into the rest of the bathroom. 1 thing to mention, the tv (LCD) only shows french stations, would be nice to see an english CNN.
Locationwise, this hotel is super if you like bars, bistro's and restaurants. Personally we liked the Bar des Huistres which is super if you have a little extra to spend and if you like seafood, than look no further you found it on the corner of the Boulevard Montparnasse just 60mtrs away. Also great to eat outside and look at all the people going by, we did and it cost around €180 (2 pers.), but you can go as high as you want. We didn't use the breakfast of the hotel, nicer to go outside and eat at la Rotonde (40mtrs) and take a french petit dejeuner (breakfast) for €10 with some fresh orange juice and croissants and coffee or anything else on the menu, lots of other choices. Jardin des Luxembourg is a great parc nearby.
