Room was quite clean. Very comfortable bed. Plenty of outlets for charging devices. Don't always find that in vintage hotels. Convenient to shops and restaurants.

It is a historic hotel and we loved it. The 100 year old elevator was a hoot. The cotton robes after a day of sightseeing were a very nice touch. And real glass ware in the room...where do you find that any more. I love the antique furniture as well as the old creaks in the floor. Think of the history of this hotel. And the blowing of the Durango & Silverton train whistle as it left the station.WOW

Hotel was overall very nice. You have to remember it is a historic property and won’t have all of the amenities of a modern hotel. The elevator only holds one person with their luggage and there isn’t a refrigerator in the room. Their continent breakfast isn’t even worth looking at it, packaged muffins and some sort of gluten free bar,

The hotel is located within walking distance of restaurants and the Durango-Silverton Train. The hotel was very clean. The weekend staff was not friendly. The breakfast was lacking, even in Covid times. We went down at 7:30 AM, breakfast started at 7:00 and they were out of breakfast items. We had to ask them to put more out. It was also just store bought muffins and cookies. There are plenty of bakeries in Durango that could provide baked goods.

The hotel is beautiful and the room, while showing a bit of wear & tear was equally lovely. However, with a check-in time of 4pm (and my room was STILL nowhere near ready at that time) and an absolute check out time of 11am, $320 / night was a bit ridiculous for significantly less than a day. Also please note that the elevator is antique and very difficult to maneuver if you are carrying anything. Ended up spilling half my breakfast down the front of me when I tried to open the door. As other reviewers noted, the shower / jacuzzi bath tub faucets were rather difficult to figure out and there were no instructions. Not really worth the costs involved.

They “upgraded” us from a room in a renovated historical hotel to a room in a detached nondescript separate building. The check in lady said a multi course, cooked, all you can eat buffet breakfast was included at no additional charge. It turned out to be a coffee pot and a couple of microwave oatmeal cereals. When I asked the morning desk person why we weren’t getting a cooked, buffet breakfast, he said they stopped doing that when Covid hit. Odd the check in clerk had not been informed.

This hotel was wonderful. The amenities are great and our service was impeccable. The front desk staff, Harley, was very considerate and really helped us out. We needed to store some wine we had purchased and didn’t want to leave it in the car due to the heat….and she offered to keep it at the hotel even when we traveled on the train to Silverton and stayed the night there. As a gay couple, we felt very comfortable here and were treated with respect. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is worth the cost.
