We cannot recommend it.
After a bereavement, we chose this hotel for a short break at short notice so paid upfront for bed and breakfast. Initial check-in was fine and a lovely lady brought us wonderful beef sandwiches. There was some confusion about check-in time so we waited until after 3pm to pick up our key. The person on reception (who we now understand to be the owner) made us wait several minutes. On producing our key, he also produced a receipt stating we had booked room only. When we queried this he became quite aggressive, and rude, telling us we had booked room only and gave us a lecture (in front of other guests) on how we had omitted to tick the appropriate box on the online booking form. The price we had paid, shown on the receipt, was evident to me that we had paid for breakfast and should have been evident to him. He challenged me to find our email confirmation. I was too upset to argue further at that point. When I had composed myself, I found our confirmation email clearly stating we had booked and paid for room and breakfast. All he said was "I'll change it then" - no apology.
Our entire trip was clouded by this rude and insulting behaviour. We didn't feel welcome in the hotel and certainly didn't want to relax in their bar or dine in the restaurant.
The reason we did not complain at the time was because he is the owner, our stay could have been made unpleasant. We did inform them on our departure.
Our room was comfortable and other staff courteous.
