Don’t stay-room party that went unchecked by hotel
The Sonesta Bay Bridge Emeryville has horrible customer service and allows for unruly guests to go unchecked. I booked a stay from 2.10-2.12 and after I checked in, grabbed dinner and returned to my room. There was a party happening in the room next to mine-with music, smoking and drugs that reeked the whole hallway. I informed the front desk person, who said they’d send their engineer to my room (I left my belongings and key in there when I went to complain to them) in order for him to break up the party. He came up, let me in my room and then left. He did nothing! I moved to a subpar room a floor below. I immediately called the third party agency (which I booked with) to cancel my room right away and refund me. They contacted the front desk person, who told the third party rep that if I left then I would get a refund. When I then went downstairs with my belongings, the front desk said they could only give me a partial refund after denying they said a full refund was coming (and they said they would speak to the engineer about the issue). The front desk person (who checked me in) said she went upstairs as well and smelled the smoke and heard the party, but she also didn’t break it up! I called the hotel manager the next day who said he couldn’t do anything and I needed to contact the third party. The third party sent me an email saying the hotel manager denied my refund. It was a mess! I got a refund from the 3rd party after 4 calls. But advise, DONT STAY HERE!!
