As a faithful Cape Cod visitor, I was looking forward to staying at the Provincetown Inn during a trip in late May. The photos on the website painted a charming and inviting picture of the property, and I was excited to experience it firsthand.
Unfortunately, a forecasted Nor’easter forced us to make the difficult decision to leave the Cape before spending our first night. While we understand that weather disruptions are no one’s fault, the hotel’s response was particularly disappointing. The staff and manager showed little to no interest in working with us on a refund or even offering a credit for a future stay. We were informed that the hotel has a strict no-refund policy, and that was the end of the discussion.
In today’s travel environment—especially in a region where weather can be unpredictable—some measure of flexibility and empathy goes a long way. Sadly, that was lacking here. The inn also did not live up to the presentation on its website; it looks far better in photos than in person.
Regrettably, I won’t be returning to the Provincetown Inn and would caution other travelers to carefully review the cancellation policy and manage expectations when booking.
