Disney’s Magic Kingdom® was the first-ever attraction to open at Orlando’s sprawling Walt Disney World® back in 1971, and still remains one of the most popular theme parks on the planet. With the iconic Cinderella Castle as its centrepiece, the park promises a long list of Disney-inspired rides, roller coasters, and attractions spread across an enormous 107-acre site a short drive southwest from downtown Orlando.

While plenty of parks have been added to Disney World since its opening, Magic Kingdom® retains its place as the premier amusement park for young children who want to be dazzled by their favourite characters come to life, and experience that unmistakable, extraordinary Disney charm.

Attractions at Disney’s Magic Kingdom®

Welcoming nearly 20 million visitors a year and consistently ranked as the world’s best theme park, it’s no surprise that Disney’s Magic Kingdom® promises a long list of family-friendly things to do and see – enough to fill up a few days on its own.

The park is split into 6 different ‘lands’: Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, Main Street, and Liberty Square. Check out the best attractions at each of these zones below:

Adventureland – Inspired by the tropical jungles of Africa, Asia and South America, this is the place to delve into the deep, dark world of the Pirates of the Caribbean, float down the river in the Jungle Cruise simulator, or go wild in the long-standing Enchanted Tiki Room.

Fantasyland – This part of Magic Kingdom is inspired by the medieval fayres and carnival featured in Walt Disney’s movies. Top rides and attractions here including the child-friendly It’s a Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Tangled.

Frontierland – Head back in time to the Wild West with the fun (and rather wet) 50-foot high Splash Mountain, the classic part-indoor part-outdoor Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the interactive audio-animatronic Country Bear Jamboree, targeted towards younger kids.

Tomorrowland – As the name suggests, Tomorrowland is your chance to take a glimpse into the future, be it from a modern-day perspective, or that of the visionaries of 50 years ago. The selection of rides and attractions here are good for all ages, with the classic Space Mountain still proving popular alongside the rocket-spinning Astro Orbiter, and the race track at Tomorrowland Speedway.

Main Street, USA – For that iconic photo-op with Cinderella Castle as the backdrop, there’s no better place than Main Street. Quite literally the ‘main street’ of Disney’s Magic Kingdom, this is where you’ll find most of the park’s shops, restaurants, and vendors. It’s always alive with activity and always fun – just be patient with the crowds, especially when trying to get that all-important photo.

Liberty Square – Find some of Disney’s classic attractions at this themed colonial town, inspired by the American Revolution. Look out for the Haunted Mansion, Liberty Belle Riverboat and check out the cool Hall of Presidents.
