We really enjoyed our 1-night stay at the Queen’s Arms. We arrived at 4pm to a warm welcome from the staff and headed to our room called Blenheim. The room was very comfortable which a gorgeous bed, a large bathroom complete with roll top bath tub, rainfall shower, lovely smelly toiletries and a gold-plated loo. Which we thought was ace. It’s not everyday you see one of those!
The room had all the things you’d expect - TV, fast wifi, plug sockets near the bed, iron, hairdryer, and the largest selection of teas and coffees we’ve ever seen.
We had booked dinner for 7pm so proceeded to head downstairs to the bar where we tried a few of the local ales. The bar staff were really welcoming and kept an eye on when our pints were running low - great service. The Six Nations was in full swing (ENG v IRL) so the place was alive with locals too.
We headed back to our room to get ready for dinner, and we were not disappointed. Again, the service was impeccable. And the food was sensational. We enjoyed a great steak and one of the nicest beef pies I’ve ever tasted.
After a great night’s sleep and a morning soak in the tub while enjoying the morning sunshine, we went down for breakfast. Again, we couldn’t fault the service and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Really tasty food. They obviously have an excellent chef in the kitchen.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again one day for some good old-fashioned great hospitality.
