nice place with one hitch
We liked this place - very modern decor, but unlike a lot of modern decor this one works - mostly. The lighting, shades, and other amenities are all on a control panel, which takes a bit of getting used to. Nice touches like nightlights that come on with motion and the push button water in the shower is actually fairly user friendly. The staff was welcoming and helpful.
The negatives? Strange maze of elevators to get to the rooms from the entrance. Service is incredibly spotty. Day one we happened upon the room cleaner - she could not have been nicer and really did a great job tidying up. Day two, we came back in our room to change in the afternoon and the room had still not been made up - we put the "make room up" light on when we left for the evening at about 4:30, came back at 11 and nothing had been cleaned.
Mini-bar (in a drawer, might have been just a drawer, we didn't verify) had sticky looking residue (again, we did NOT verify) in one of the empty spaces.
The restaurant - Laurel room - had good food but terrible service. At breakfast we finally got some attention from a "Wait-staff assistant" who poured coffee but it got cold by the time someone remembered that we had asked for milk, and all this is at $9 a cup
Close to the Broad and the L.A. Philharmonic, but in a totally deserted and sad complex with no stores or restaurants nearby.
