10 Best Things to Do After Dinner in Baltimore

Baltimore has a very thriving beer scene, so visiting a brewery (or several) is an excellent way to spend an evening in the city. You can find excellent brewpubs, taprooms and beer co-ops in just every neighbourhood.

The Brewer's Art is a 2-level brewpub specialising in Belgian-style ales, while UNION Craft Brewing offers a spacious taproom with 18 drafts and free brewery tours on Saturdays. Other prominent Baltimore breweries include Oliver Brewing Co, Guinness Open Gate Brewery, and Waverly Brewing Co.  

Hippodrome Theatre is part of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center in Downtown Baltimore. Established in 1914, this former vaudeville theatre can accommodate around 2,500 people at a time.

Some of the best touring Broadway musicals that have taken place here include Cats, Wicked, Les Misérables, and Hairspray. If you’re into live music, check out the Hippodrome Theatre Jazz Series, which take place on Mondays at the theatre’s lower level. Doors open at 7 pm, while the concert starts at 7.30 pm.

The Maryland Science Center hosts free stargazing sessions at its rooftop observatory on Friday evenings. The centre opens its doors from 7 pm until 10.30 pm, allowing you to use the Clark Telescope and observe the night sky. You can also reserve the observatory to enjoy a personalised ‘Evening Under the Stars’ guided tour.

Even if the event gets cancelled due to weather conditions, you can still enjoy plenty of interesting activities at the Maryland Science Center throughout the day.

Mobtown Ballroom is an excellent place to mingle with the locals, especially if you love dancing. Located in Baltimore’s Washington Boulevard, it occupies a restored church that dates back to the 1870s, with a 2,500-sq-ft dancefloor.

Mobtown Ballroom welcomes dancers of all levels – aspiring and professionals alike – with its regular dance nights. On Mondays and Fridays, you get to enjoy drop-in beginner lessons at 8 pm, followed with swing and Lindy Hop dance from 9 pm to 11.30 pm. The dance venue also hosts belly dance, burlesque, and art shows on certain times of the year.

The Baltimore Wicked History Tours is an established company that organises walking tours and pub crawls of the city’s historic neighbourhoods. One of its most popular options is the Fells Point Wicked History Pub Tour – a guide shares interesting stories while taking you to some of the area’s best speakeasies and taverns, many of which are supposedly haunted.

You can also join the Mount Vernon Wicked History Pub Tour to learn about prominent figures such as Francis Scott Key and F. Scott Fitzgerald, both of whom have died in this part of Baltimore. The walking tours take around 2 hours and drinks aren’t included in the tour price.

The Horse You Came In On Saloon dates back to 1775, making it one of the longest-running nightlife spots in Maryland. It occupies a colonial building in the Fell’s Point Historic District, featuring saddle-shaped seats and 2 different bars.

The bar claims to have served Edgar Allen Poe his last drink just a few days before his death in 1849 – look for his old seat that’s marked ‘Poe’s Last Stop’. The Horse You Came In On Saloon regularly hosts live music, mostly original country rock and cover songs.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore occupies a 2-level building with a 122,000-sq-ft gaming floor on Russell Street, about 1.5 miles southwest of Inner Harbor. Inside, you’ll find around 2,200 slot machines, a 25-table poker room, and over 150 tables games.

Horseshoe Casino’s onsite dining options include Gordon Ramsay Steak, Fú Noodle House, GDL Italian by Giada, and Guy Fieri's Kitchen. You can find casual bites such as pizzas, sandwiches and burgers at the Baltimore Marketplace, located on the 1^st level of the casino.

Power Plant Live! in Market Place offers a variety of bars, pubs, nightclubs and restaurants. It’s one of Baltimore’s liveliest nightlife districts, with most of its venues facing an outdoor plaza that features an outdoor bar, a large video screen, and a sound and light show.

Fans of live music can enjoy a weekly line-up of DJs, rock and punk bands at Angel's Rock Bar, Tin Roof, and Rams Head Live!. If you prefer staying sober, check out the indoor axe-throwing centre and escape room. Power Plant Live! is within a 5-minute walk of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

Charm City Pedal Mill offers a unique way of barhopping in Baltimore – using a pedal-powered bike. The bike can accommodate up to 15 people, with a guide steering you to some of the area’s most popular bars.
