The Fremont Troll is a popular public art installation in the area of the same name depicting, predictably, a troll. Located underneath the George Washington Memorial Bridge, the sculpture details a massive troll right out of Scandinavian folklore.

There's no reason you can't bring the whole family to see the troll in person. There's nothing about it that's inappropriate for kids, and it's an iconic sight for residents and travellers alike. Most people spend just a few minutes here to get some pictures and examine the expert craftsmanship of the troll itself.

What are the highlights of the Fremont Troll in Seattle?

When you visit the Fremont Troll, the first thing you'll notice is the impressive craftsmanship. It was built in 1990 and still stands today towering at a massive 18 feet and weighing an incredible 13,000 pounds.

The construction of the troll was the work of 4 local artists. Steve Badanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter, and Ross Whitehead worked together to create this now-iconic image in the Fremont area. They used steel rebar, wire, and concrete to construct the creature, which explains how it managed to stand virtually unscathed in the decades since its initial construction.
