Buckhorn Saloon and Museum is a century old and has it all — cowboys, history, wild animals, and a saloon. Over the course of the century, the place has changed owners and has also seen numerous renovations but has maintained its place as a fixture of San Antonio’s tourism.

At Buckhorn Saloon, the heritage and history of Texas are on full show. It is fully operating as a saloon and an attractions site for both locals and visitors. The vision of founder Albert Friedrich can still be found with over 40000 sq ft of exhibits sprawling over two floors.

Buckhorn Saloon and Museum highlights

The monument has two museums, the Buckhorn Museum and the Texas Rangers Museum. The former consists of taxidermied animals from all over the world, including elks, gorillas, and deer.

While in the Texas Rangers section, you will find collections of Texas history from everything from guns to a reproduction of the car owned by the infamous Bonnie and Clyde. The unusual artefacts are exciting for all ages. In the bar, you will be treated to drinks and a chance for some iconic photoshoots.

Good to know when visiting Buckhorn Saloon and Museum

There is one entry cost for both museums. You can dress in a cowboy outfit with your family as photos are allowed to be taken so that you can put your family right in an Old West scene. There is an iconic storeroom that captures the essence of the Old West, and it is the backbone of the museum’s success.

You can also have access to private rentals like the Toepperwein room that contains over 400 seats with a stage for a band, a DJ, and some food stations.
