When we arrived, it was obvious that the hotel was renovating. The lobby was covered in dust, the breakfast area was in complete disarray and all this actually felt quite unwelcoming. The receptionist however was very friendly, apologetic and tried to accommodate us as best he could. He told us that the third floor has been remodeled, but we were given four rooms on the first and second floor, because the rooms on the third floor were not available anymore. The carpet and the curtains in all our rooms were old and very worn and for the three days that we stayed at the London Star Hotel there was no housekeeping. All this contributed to a sense of disappointment with this accommodation and our conclusion is that the 3,5 star rating is very flattering. In this state 2 stars would be more fair. Perhaps in another half year or so, after the renovation is completed, the hotel will better live up to its promises.
Ofcourse it was not all bad. The shower was nice, towels were clean, the area is lively and a huge supermarket is around the corner.
