10 Things to Do Off the Beaten Track in Las Vegas

The Pinball Hall of Fame features more than 200 different pinball machines that come from all eras, including speciality and rare machines that you won't find anywhere else. You'll also be able to see a few arcade machines showcasing other retro video games. Unlike most museums, the Pinball Hall of Fame encourages visitors to interact with the items on display. Kiss Mini Golf is an 18-hole indoor miniature golf course centred around the classic band Kiss and featuring a glow-in-the-dark rocker aesthetic. The course was custom-designed to fit the Kiss image, so expect to see video and special effects along with unique props. In addition to the course itself, you'll also find a Kiss museum, several arcade games, and a massive gift shop to pick up souvenirs. You can find it all in the Rio, right on the Vegas Strip.

The Burlesque Hall of Fame is a museum dedicated to preserving the history and artistry of burlesque as a cultural phenomenon and way of expression with props, photos, and costumes. When you visit this museum, you'll learn not only about the art form itself but about the lives of some of the greatest burlesque performers in history. The history of burlesque detailed here dates back to the 1800s, and you'll be able to see the influence of neo-burlesque in connecting the latest generation with that history. Dig This is a fun playground where kids and adults alike can spend the afternoon playing with construction equipment and moving around dirt, tyres, and other items. The more serious machines will be reserved for adults, of course, but kids as young as 3 can find fun as well. The purpose of this unusual attraction is to create memorable experiences where friends and family can work together to accomplish certain tasks while enjoying the novelty and power that comes with operating industrial machinery. You'll find this attraction a few miles south of city centre past the Southern Highlands Golf Club.

Zak Bagans' The Haunted Museum is home to a wide variety of obscure and haunting oddities that are presented in a chilling vibe that makes even sceptics feel uneasy. Amongst the items housed in this museum, you'll find the van that was used by Dr. Kevorkian and the chair Michael Jackson passed away in. Amongst the creepy artefacts, the remnants of the Demon House are arguably the most famous. The Indiana Demon House is infamous for its paranormal hauntings and, while the house was demolished, the staircase is still intact and is on display in the museum. You can see it all city centre, just west of Mary Dutton Park.

The Big Edge is an art installation that's made from more than 200 boats put together in a flowering cluster that makes it look like a massive metal bouquet. This work of art was created by Nancy Rubins, who is well known for crafting impressive works from spare parts of aeroplanes, HVAC systems, and other industrial scraps. One of the more unique aspects of this sculpture is that much of the support is hidden, making it appear as if the collective of boats is defying gravity. You can see it for yourself just off the Strip by heading right across the street from the ARIA.

The Zombie Apocalypse Store is a local shop offering survival food and supplies along with self-defense products useful for a zombie invasion or other, much more real, threats. The zombie craze has led many to consider their own zombie plan, and this store has everything you could need. More realistically, however, it has everything necessary to aid in survival following events like an earthquake or tsunami. In addition to the gear and self-defense items like mace, this store also features a zombie shooting gallery where you can take down simulated walking dead with paintball guns. You'll find it all a few minutes southwest on the motorway from city centre.

Evel Pie is an Evel Knievel-themed pizzeria where you'll find a wide collection of Evel Knievel memorabilia along with unique pizza options you won't find elsewhere. Amongst the memorabilia, you'll find skateboards, bicycles, a pinball machine, and a bust of the man himself. The pizza is served New York-style, and you'll find a mixture of traditional flavours alongside a few oddities. The most famous is the Canyon Hopper, which is pizza made with chapulines. Give it a try yourself at the restaurant city centre on Fremont, just south of the Mob Museum.
